About
As a professional scientific grant writer, I have secured more than $15 million in funding for clients. My experience spans non-dilutive fundraising strategy and competitive proposal development across a wide range of technical domains and funding agencies, including NIH, ARPA-H, NSF, DoD/DoW, DoE, USDA, NOAA, ED, CalSEED, CIRM, and JDRF.
I am a broadly curious, entrepreneurially-minded scientist, and my approach to grant writing emphasizes becoming a true scientific partner for my clients by rapidly familiarizing myself with the contemporary state of the scientific literature relevant to their technology and business.
I hold a B.Sc. in Microbiology from The University of Alabama and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Florida State University, followed by postdoctoral training at UNC Chapel Hill.
I have published over 10 lead-author articles in journals including Nature Biotechnology, Ecology, and Environmental Microbiology. During my academic tenure, I was awarded 32 nationally and internationally competitive research grants, including an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. I have also served on several grant review committees, including the Phycological Society of America’s grant committee, and serve as a manuscript reviewer for several leading journals.
