Position Overview
We are seeking skilled writers with strong academic backgrounds who enjoy the scientific
grant writing process and who want to engage with a broad diversity of cutting-edge science.
In this role, you will work directly with top scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs
across a wide range of scientific disciplines, helping them meaningfully compete in the
current scientific funding landscape and transform their research ideas into compelling,
fundable proposals.
Key Qualifications
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD preferred) in a STEM field, with an ability to quickly learn
and engage meaningfully with technical concepts outside your core area of expertise.
- Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific
concepts into clear, persuasive proposal narratives that are tailored to specific
audiences.
- Good oral communication skills to collaborate closely with founders, subject matter
experts, federal program staff, and internal team members.
- Experience synthesizing technical literature, identifying scientific gaps, and
constructing compelling and logical scientific arguments.
- Self-directed work style with the ability to successfully manage multiple concurrent
projects while adhering closely to external deadlines.
- General familiarity with federal grant programs is preferred, but not required.
Specific Responsibilities
- Help clients identify non-dilutive funding opportunities aligned with their specific
technology, providing strategic guidance on how to map scientific objectives to funding
agency priorities and program-specific evaluation criteria.
- Design and manage multi-opportunity, multi-agency funding pipelines that maximize each
client’s chances of securing non-dilutive funding.
- Plan, write, and submit competitive proposals across federal, state, and private
foundation funding programs.
- Work closely with founders and technical teams to develop/refine proposal documents, such
as project narratives, commercialization plans, and supporting documents.
- Stay up-to-date on funding program announcements and rapidly shifting agency priorities to
provide topical information to clients.
Compensation & Benefits
- Full-time
- Fully remote (based in Canada / US)
- 80k - 110K CAD/70k - 80k USD base salary + benefits + uncapped bonus tied to the proposals you win and
firm performance.
